The Spanish steps are named so because the Spanish embassy was situated right there, and the steps were part of it. They were built in the 18th Century to connect the embassy with the Trinita Dei Monti church (which was under French patronage!)
The steps are open 24/7 unless repairs are being made. They will get busy, especially during the peak season. They are especially nice to visit during the spring months when the flowers are blooming.
The Spanish steps are around 600m from the Trevi fountain, so it's a short walk away.
The Spanish steps are situated on top of Pincio hill.
Spanish Steps are open from Sunday to Saturday from 12 am to 11:59 pm.
You can check out some iconic landmarks near the Spanish Steps including the Church of the Santissima Trinità dei Monti, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Colosseum, and the Vatican.
